Piyush comes with an experience of over 16 years in PE / VC Investing, Corporate Strategy and M&A. He moved in to set up and head Aditya Birla Ventures in 2021.

In Corporate Strategy, he evaluated the Group’s foray into new sectors and worked with various large businesses in formulating long term strategy & evaluating M&A opportunities.

At Aditya Birla Private Equity, he focused on Financial Services, Business Services, Consumer, Healthcare delivery, wherein he evaluated multiple opportunities across both growth & control space. His portfolio included TransUnion CIBIL (India’s largest credit bureau), RBL Bank (India’s fastest growing small bank), Indian Energy Exchange (India’s largest energy exchange) amongst others, with each delivering 40%+ IRR.

In Investment Banking, he worked on both M&A advisory and equity capital raising transactions aggregating ~US$ 1 bn. Some of his transactions include Govt.’s divestment in MOIL Limited, equity raising for JSW Energy, Alok Industries, stake sale in a leading stock exchange, sale of controlling stake in a leading MFI, etc.

Piyush is a Bachelors of Commerce from Mumbai University, Chartered Accountant and an MBA from The Indian School of Business, Hyderabad.

Piyush led Aditya Birla Ventures to win prestigious ‘New Fund Entry – Outstanding Achievement of the Year’ award at Indian Venture and Alternate Capital Association (IVCA) PE / VC Awards, 2023.

Piyush is also a recipient of prestigious 'Chairman’s Individual Award' as an exceptional contributor in 2022.

At ISB, Piyush headed the Investment Banking & Private Equity Vertical at the Finance Club and also won the prestigious "UBS IIM Ahmedabad Exchequer 2011". He also actively played cricket at club level during school days.
